Abstract This study assesses the causal effect of child marriage on infant mortality. Using age discontinuities in exposure to a law that raised legal for women Ethiopia, estimates 1-year delay woman’s at cohabitation during her teenage years reduces probability first-born dying infancy by 3.8 percentage points. impact is closely linked delaying women’s first birth.
